I was a little slow in updating the news column recently, but in case anyone missed it, I wanted to take a moment to honor two more Star Wars actors who passed away this year.

Richard Bonehill, noted for playing numerous roles in the original trilogy including a Snowtrooper, Stormtrooper, Rebel officer, Mon Calamari, X-Wing Pilot, Ree-Yees, and Nien Nunb, passed away on February 4, 2015. He was an incredibly versatile actor who contributed to many different Star Wars characters, and will be greatly missed.

Sir Christopher Lee, noted for playing Count Dooku, passed away on June 7, 2015 at the age of 93. He had an extensive film career outside of the Star Wars movies, and was a sheer joy to watch on the screen. His passing is perhaps one of the most prominent Star Wars actor deaths since Sir Alec Guinness, in 2000. May the Force be with Sir Christopher Lee.

Sad news to start the year as we recently learned that Khan Bonfils passed away after collapsing during rehearsals for a play in London on January 5, 2015. Paramedics were unable to revive him when they arrived at the scene.

To Star Wars fans, Mr. Bonfils was known for portraying Jedi Master Saesee Tiin in The Phantom Menace. Actors Jesse Jensen and Kenji Oates portrayed Tiin in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, respectively.

Khan will be sorely missed among the Star Wars community. May the Force Be With You!

Earlier this week, the Star Wars universe lost Joe Viskocil, a crew member who worked on miniature pyrotechnics for A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Among other scenes, Joe is most famous for the Death Star explosion at the end of A New Hope. Joe passed away from complications due to liver and kidney failure. Mr. Viskocil will be sincerely missed.
